MABO – Free Community Movie
May 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm AWST
The Shire of Esperance’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group is proud to present a free film screening of Mabo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mabo case, and to kick off National Reconciliation Week for 2022.
The movie tells the remarkable life story of Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo; a Torres Strait Islander who left school at the age of 15, yet spearheaded the High Court challenge that overthrew the fiction of terra nullius.
The screening event will be held at the Civic Centre on Thursday 26 May 2022 from 5.30pm, and there will also be an opportunity for displays showcasing local indigenous art and products.
